SHORT COURSE SEASON 2011
Del Norte #3 Swim Meet WeTT had another great Del Norte meet on the 21st. Our swimmers did remarkable and should ALL be proud of themselves. Every WeTT swimmer had at least one or more personal best with Xochitl, Mikaela, Noelle, and Stephen dropping time in every event they swam (see results in Meets section). WeTT also walked away with many trophies with the 9-10 Boys powerhouse taking the top 4 spots in their age group. Mikaela Gonzalez - 1st 7-8 Girls Celeste Hirschi - 2nd 7-8 Girls Paige Pearson - 4th 9-10 Girls Adrian Aguirre - 1st 9-10 Boys Adrian Prieto - 2nd 9-10 Boys Jose Guillot - 3rd 9-10 Boys Stephen Stresow - 4th 9-10 Boys Noelle Gonzalez - 1st 11-12 Girls Thanks to all the Senior swimmers and families that helped run the meet. Your efforts made the meet a great success and continue to show why we have such a wonderful team. Special thanks to Coach Perla for guiding our kids to such great results and especially our meet director, Cindy, who kept track of everything and made the Del Norte series such a wonderful event.  Leo Cancellare Meet The Leo Cancellare Memorial swim meet wrapped up our final meet for 2011 calendar year. Many of our swimmers continue to post personal bests. High point trophies were given for the top 5 spots in each age group with WeTT swimmers having good representation. Mikaela Gonzalez - 2nd 7-8 Girls Victoria Garcia - 2nd 11-12 Girls Ivy Caflin - 2nd 13-14 Girls Gabrielle Lopez - 5th 13-14 Girls Vianney Trujillo - 2nd 15-16 Girls Chris Martinez - 3rd 17 & Over Boys Junior Nationals Meet Sydney Hirschi represented WeTT at the Junior Nationals Championships Swim Meet in Austin, TX. Junior Nationals meets are only available for swimers who have achieved the required qualifying times. Sydney was able to make personal bests in the 400IM, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly. She also made an additional Junior National qualifying time in the 100 Fly event. COR Swim Meet WeTT finished another outstanding meet at the COR Invitational in Dallas. It was a great opportunity to pick up some personal bests and additional qualification times. Victoria picked up her TAGS time in the 100 Fly, Nina made an additional TAGS times in the 50 Free and Sectionals times in the 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 IM. This was a prelims/finals meet with our swimmers showing good representation in the finals with 13-14 age swimmers having an A and B final opportunity. Victoria Garcia - 2nd 50 Fly; 3rd 100 Fly; 6th 200 IM; 6th 400 IM Nicholas Jozwiak – 11th 100 Breast Nina Gonzalez - 6th 50 Free; 2nd 100 Free; 3rd 200 Free; 2nd 500 Free; 4th 100 Fly; 9th 200 IM In addition to the outstanding race placements, Nina broke border records in the 100, 200 and 500 Free's. What a great accomplishment! Desert Shark Swim Meet Many yellow ducks found a home with our swimmers at the annual Turkey Splash Meet. WeTT High Point winners for the meet were: Victoria Garcia - 3rd Place 11-12 Girls Nina Gonzalez - 2nd Place 13-14 Girls Ivy Caflin - 3rd Place 13-14 Girls Sydney Hirschi - 1st Place 15-16 Girls The WeTT girls set a new Border record with a time of 3:39.11 in the 400 Free Relay. This was 4.66 seconds faster than the previous record set just last year. Way to go Shanny, Ivy, Nina, and Sydney!
