Posted 3/23/07: The End-of-Season (EOS) Party at Mission Hills Park, on Stanton at Okeefe, will be on Saturday, March 31, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. No preparation...just show up with your favorite games (e.g., basketball, volleyball, tennis, jump-rope, chess!?). Please check your emails from Coach Dow or Merridith for more details.

By the way, we are still working on the Swimmers webpages with the photos taken at the Border Champ. These pages will be placed in the Member Zone with limited access for WeTT members only. Username and password will be emailed to you when the construction is complete. Thanks for your patience!

Posted 3/11/07: Congratulations! At the Texas Age Group Swimming (TAGS) Championship Meet, WETT got a TAGS flag for the 8th place by the total high point as a team. By individual high points, Maddie, Shanny, and Wesley grabbed first places, while William got second place. It should be mentioned that Maddie swept first places in all events she participated. According to our web reporter, for Maddie, Shanny, and William, each of them broke five border records at this meet, including some of their own records made recently. In addition, a relay border record should have been broken by Chase, Will, Joe, and Michael. Please see real-time results and the Meet page for details.

By the way, please note that our End-of-Season party is being organized and will be held on Saturday, March 31. More information will follow and please check your emails.

Posted 2/28/07: The March practice schedule is now ready. Please note the changes in practice times. You can check your email from Paula or click here to download a copy now. Posted 2/26/07: Congratulations again! WETT won second place in the Border Champs. In this meet, Manny tasted his first TAGS time in 500y Free, while Danielle, all of a sudden, achieved her first AA time in 50y Fly and first A times in eight other races including all four strokes. Wow! Something must have clicked in their minds.

Shanny and Wesley secured first places in all events participated and Shanny broke five border records, including some of her own made recently. William also broke the border record almost by six seconds in the 200y Fly, the only one individual event he swam.

Cole, Ilse, Victoria, Michael, Sydney, Chase, Joe, and Anthony got several first places, while many others dropped their times significantly and entered the finals. Hooray! Keep on the good work! For details, please check the meet results.

Thanks for the enthusiastic response of your swimmers in the picture-taking exercise for the Swimmers page. Since it involves a lot of photo-editing work, the update will take a while to be completed. In the updated webpage, some of the pictures taken by Mark Fischer (a.k.a. Brandon's father) will be included; he has volunteered to help take photos whenever he is around. Great! Our web-reporter team is expanding! Thanks, Mark!

We all like to express our gratitude to Cindy Claflin for coordinating the volunteers successfully and to Jan Hirschi for leading the hospitality efforts. Special thanks should also go to the Baca's, Jack Lin, Barry Edwards, and many others in helping with the timing and a lot of different tasks. Many thanks!

Posted 2/22/07: The Border Champs will start tomorrow at Tigua. Good luck to all swimmers! Just swim faster and drop more times. Please check Cindy's email and poolside notices for volunteer assignment, etc., especially for Sunday morning. Thank you all!

It is long overdue to update our Swimmers webpage. So, at the Border Champs, Hanson will be going around hunting down WETT swimmers for taking photos. If your swimmers are interested in providing more information (e.g., favorite events), please contact him at hansonyu@aol.com or 276-8288 or just catch him at Tigua.

Posted 2/15/07: Entries for the Border Champs will be due today, please talk to your coach as soon as possible. Also, Rose is ready to order WETT towels (with names), shirts, and visors, please catch her by the pool if you want some of those.

WETT had a great performance at the Turkey Splash this past weekend.  High Point trophies were earned by Mia, Francesca, Ilse, Branson, Victoria E., Victor, Shanny, Maddie, Michael, Susie, Gaby and Marcela.  Way to go!!  Quite a few meet records were broken by Susie, Gaby, Chase, Shanny, Will, Maddie, Branson (broke his brother's 100 breast record) and Ilse (lots and lots by Ilse).  A very exciting 400 free relay by the 11-12 girls resulted in a new Border Record!  Congratulations to Shanny, Sydney, Carolina & Maddie.  In addition to that, Maddie broke 3 more BORDER RECORDS!!  - a five year old Border Record in the 200 free, her own Border Record in the 100 back and one more in the 400 IM.  And this is still early in the training season.  We are amazed and very proud.

This week's practice schedule has some changes - and corrections from previously posted.  Coach Dow's group is still at the Y for Monday and Tuesday at 6:30.  No practice for his groups Wednesday through Sunday.  Keep checking for updates on the location after that.  Coach Ragland's groups DO HAVE PRACTICE MONDAY, THE 19th at the usual time.  Friday practice will be at 10 am at Memorial.

The final T16 List for long course is posted on the USA Swimming website.  You can access the girls and boys here.  This is a list of the fastest 16 swims this past long course IN THE COUNTRY!  WETT has three swimmers who made this list.  We are so proud of Maddie, who got a #11 in her beautiful 200 Back; Shanny, with a FIRST in the 200 Free & a Texas State Record,  3 Seconds in the 400 Free, 100 Fly and 200 IM, and 5 other top 10s; and Will, with THREE NUMBER 1 TIMES (100 Breast, 200 Breast & 200 IM) and 5 more Top 16 swims in the country.

Upcoming meets are the 2007 NT COR Winter Classic "A" Meet in Dallas (11-30 to 12-2), Del Norte #3 (12-8) and the EPAP Cancellare Memorial Meet (12-14 to 16).  Keep posted for notices about Del Norte and get ready to tell us how you'd like to help with this one.

Posted 11/13/07:  Congratulations on the exceptional performance of the WETT swimmers at the Lobo Classic this past weekend in Albuquerque and a big THANK YOU to Coach Dow!  Carli and Matthew both brought home 1st place High Point trophies.  That is so remarkable for an out-of-town meet.  We're so proud of you, guys!

The DSSC Turkey Splash is this Friday through Sunday (Nov 16-18) at Tigua.  If you haven't seen and checked your entries, please contact your coach.  Good Luck and Fast Swimming to all.

The final T16 List for long course is out.  This is a list of the fastest 16 swims this past long course IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY!  Most teams go their entire lifetimes without any swimmers making these lists.  Your favorite team happens to have 3 swimmers who made this list.  We are so proud of Maddie, who got a #11 in her beautiful 200 Back; Shanny, with a FIRST in the 200 Free & a Texas State Record,  3 Seconds in the 400 Free, 100 Fly and 200 IM, and 5 other top 10s; and Will, with THREE NUMBER 1 TIMES (100 Breast, 200 Breast & 200 IM) and 5 more Top 16 swims in the ENTIRE COUNTRY - did I mention that?

The short course season is heating up.  The Lobo Holiday Classic was added to the schedule for November 9-11.  Albuquerque is such a fun city to visit and Lobo Aquatics are great hosts.  It's an "Open" meet and appropriate for all of our swimmers.  Check the Meets page for details and give your entries to Coach THIS WEEK.  Del Norte #2 is November 3rd at Shawver. Please get your entries to Coach by this Wednesday, the 24th.  And don't forget to tell Cindy what you'd like to do at this meet - AND sign up to bring something for Concessions/Hospitality.   The invite for the COR Meet in Dallas (11/30-12/2) is on the meets page.  This is an "A" meet - swimmers must have an "A" time or better to compete in an event.
